I am a warm and interactive humanistic psychotherapist and counsellor.  I am interested in supporting people to explore themselves and how they relate to others.  Through self-awareness and understanding, we can begin to form different perspectives on our difficulties and develop strategies for managing both ourselves and our relationships in more satisfying ways.

How I work

I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can talk at your pace about thoughts and experiences you might not find easy to share with those around you.

By exploring your issues together, I can help you become clearer about who you are and what you want and need, as well as developing a better understanding of the people around you.  This can help you to make positive decisions in your life, develop new opportunities, improve your relationships, and manage difficult times with more balance and self-acceptance.

Some of the areas I work with include:

–      Stress & Anxiety

–      Relationships

–      Career

–      Bereavement & Loss

–      Sexuality, sexual identity & LGBT

–      Personal growth & development

Qualifications

I hold a Diploma in Psychotherapy from Spectrum Therapy (an organisational member of UKCP), and an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy from the Institute of Family Therapy.  I undertake ongoing CPD with Spectrum and elsewhere.

As well as my experience in private practice, I have worked as a counsellor at City & Hackney Mind, a bereavement counsellor with Cruse, and a primary school play therapist with Place 2 Be.

I have undertaken courses in:

– Transforming relationships

– Gestalt Therapy

– Somatic Work

– Working with Anger

– The 3 tiers of the Spectrum programme in Sexuality; Basic, Intermediate & Advanced

– Childhood Sexual Abuse: Occurrence and Prevention

– Grief, Bereavement & Loss

– Non-Violent Communication (NVC)

– Play Therapy with Primary School Children

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), abide by the BACP Ethical Framework and adhere to its Professional Code of Practice.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist and counsellor, I worked in an engineering design consultancy in the construction industry, both as a designer and in senior management.
